Collision off Oulu
The 'FWN Solide' was in collision the icebreaker 'Kontio'
upon approaching Oulu in the northeast Gulf of Bothnia on Jan 22, 2019,
at 10 a.m. while en route from Rotterdam
The collision occurred during ice channeling
The freighter suffered a hole in the bulbous bow, but no water ingress or pollutant leaks
were reported, only a moderate leak of ballast water
The icebreaker reportedly didn’t sustain any damages and remained in service
The 'FWN Solide' docked at Oulu at 10.30 a.m.
