In July 2011, Jumbo Shipping has signed a contract with Brodosplit
for building a heavy lifter with an option for two more.
With the first one already in production process, the arrangement for building a sister ship was made after the privatization process of Brodosplit came to the final stage.
Ending of Brodosplit’s privatization confirms its position on the world market and the role in construction of sophisticated vessels, which is a strategic goal for Split shipyard.
A complex project of heavy lift ship has never before been built in any of Croatian shipyards, it was said at the project presentation on Tuesday, where representatives of Jumbo Shipping, Brodosplit and DIV company, future owners of the shipyard were present. Jumbo Shipping representatives emphasized that the choice of shipyard for their project was based on the quality of ships Brodosplit delivers.
Heavy lift ships with 152m length, 27m width and 14.000t deadwight at draft of 8,1m, will be equipped with two engines of 4500 kW at 750 rev/min, which would enable them to develop maximum speed of 17 knots. They will be equipped with two cranes each, with a total lifting capacity up to 2600t, which would make them the biggest in Jumbo Shipping fleet.
Ships will be built under the Lloyd’s Register regulations. The first one is to be delivered in the middle of 2013, and second one will follow six months later
