At least five packets of suspected cocaine were Saturday found aboard
a ship moored alongside the wharf of one of Guyana’s major businesses.
One of the Russian sailors saw a parcel on the boat and he alerted the policeman who was on duty, Police Commissioner, Henry Greene told Demerara Waves Online News. A subsequent search of the vessel by Narcotics Police resulted in the discovery of four more packets.
They were all taken to police headquarters for testing.
The parcels were found aboard the MV Buzzard Bay that arrived here from Suriname with a consignment of potatoes.
The vessel is docked at Demerara Distilleries Limited (DDL) wharf.
