Scrap ship towed to port with leaking fuel tank
The "PWP 1" on Jan 5 has been disabled off Sanya city, China, after a fuel tank leaked and the vessel lost power. The unladen ship was heading from Singapore to Guangzhou. The China’s Nanhai Rescue Bureau dispatched the rescue vessel "Nan Hai Jiu 115" immediately after receiving a distress call from the vessel. On the evening of Jan 5 rescuers found the ship and started to tow it back to Sanya.
A total of 16 crew members from Indonesia, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Malaysia were aboard the vessel. At 3.20 p.m. LT on Jan 7 the "Nan Hai Jiu 115" and "PWP 1" arrived at the Sanya port.
The 30-year-old vessel was due to be broken up.

Nederlandse minister Karla Peijs van Verkeer en Waterstaat
herdoopt KARLA OMAYRA,
9-2009 vlag: Maleisië, 9-2009 herdoopt PWP 1.
