Two yachties were picked up by the "Nicola" off Arcachon in the mid-afternoon of Mar 22, 2013. The MRCC Etel was alerted after the
catamaran crew was recovered by a merchant ship.
The 10-m-boat had sunk on Mar 20 and the two evacuated the ship in a life raft about 80 nautical miles off the coast of Arcachon. There was no time to call for help, and for two days, they drifted aboard their liferaft before being retrieved by the "Nicola" which was enroute from Bilbao to Rotterdam, where the two castaways were to be landed on Mar 24.
Both castaways were tired but in good health.
