Just after having sailed from the Keppel Verolme Shipyard in Rotterdam on Jan 9, 2015, the "Pitztal" while heading for St. Petersburg ran into the large northern lock of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel on Jan 10 around noon.
The ship suffered only scratches when tearing a hole into the middle wall.
When trying to get the ship back under control, it also hit the wall with the stern, causing more damage to the wall of the lock chamber.
The ship was actually remaining inside the lock while the police was investigating the allision. Bron Vesseltracker.com
