Nederlands zeeschip aan de grond gelopen op de rivier de Göta

Enroute from Kristinehamn to Kingston upon Hull the "Skagern" ran aground on the Göta River at Intagan south of Trollhättan, at the height of Älvabo
between Trollhättan and Lilla Edet, in the morning of Mar 9, 2017, at 7.30 a.m.

The Northern Älvsborg Rescue Association was called to the site for investigations

The ship was loaded with timber, had 24 tons bunker fuel and a pilot on board

No leakage was reported, but the ship had a starboard list of ten degrees due to hard landing on the rocks
Ships of the Coast Guard and the Maritime Administration were underway

Ship traffic was not affected as the "Skagern" was stuck outside the fairway

Update

In the run of Mar 9, the crew of the "Skagern" reported a slight water ingress,
but it was not more than the ship's own pumps could cope, so there was no danger
of the ship sinking

Divers were expected on site in the run of the day to check the extent
of the damage to the hull

Only then it can be decided how to proceed with the salvage work
Maritime Administration and the Coast Guard have helped to secure the ship
so that it was not likely to move with the current
