Cargo ship aground in Little Belt, Denmark

General cargo ship FELIX ran aground off Assens, in Little Belt, Denmark,
at around 0500 UTC Jul 20, being en route from Pyarnu Estonia to Kolding Denmark

As of 1300 UTC was still aground, SAR boat at her side,

Grounding off Assens

The FELIX ran aground in the early morning of July 20, 2019, at Bogø Flak near Assens in pos. 55° 16.82' N 009° 49.98' E, while enroute from Pärnu to Kolding with a cargo of pellets

Investigations showed that there was no visible damage to the ship and that there were no signs of pollution either

The Danish Armed Forces have therefore approved a salvage plan which implies that the tug "Obelix", pulled the ship from the bottom

After a thorough survey it would then be allowed to proceed to Kolinng

If the "Obelix", which arrived on site in the morning of July 21, failed to pull the "Felix" off at high tide, it would probably be necessary to lighten a part of the cargo to reduce the draught

At the grounding, FELIX stacked 6.5 meters - bron Vesseltracker.com

Update

Refloating attempts failed

After attempts to pull the FELIX off the grounding site south of Baagø,
where it got stuck in the early morning of July 20, have so far been in vain,
it was decided to ligher part of the cargo before it is salvaged

The "Obelix" several times during the last 24 hours had tried to pull the ship off

After the salvage the vessel must go through a thorough diving survey in Kolding
