Ro-ro 'Citeca' on fire, Japan

Fire erupted on board of Russian ro-ro Cambodia 'Citeca' RoRo ship,
anchored in Akita port, Honshu, Japan, Japan sea,
at around 1730 LT Jan 13.

Cargo of plywood on a cargo deck was on fire, 14 Russian crew was evacuated, no spill reported. Port firefighting teams were engaged in firefighting, no updates yet to the situation.

Plywood on main deck on fire

On Jan 13 at 5.30 p.m. LT a fire erupted on board of the "Citeca",
which was anchored in Akita port, Honshu.

The cargo of plywood on the cargo deck was on fire.
The ship had come from Plastun to Akita and loaded 4100 tons,
1400 tons of which were to be unloaded before proceeding to Ishinomaki in the Miyagi Prefecture.

The crew of 14 Russians, aged 21-63 years, was evacuated, no spill reported. Port firefighting teams were engaged in firefighting until the next day.
Smoke was still emerging from the deck of the ship which was surrounded by an oil boom.
